God bless 'em down in New Orleans

Levees 13 feet high to protect a below-sea-level city, versus a Cat 5 with 165 mph winds and 20 foot waves. This is going to be awful.

[Edit: The more I read, the more depressed I get. Apparently, this is "The One." Lots of "absolutely worst-case scenario," or "never before in recorded history" type talk. 1 million homeless? Unreal. My parents just welcomed several family friends and friends-of-friends from N.O. who managed to inch out of the city and make it up to Monroe for the next few days.]

[Edit 2: This is getting difficult to read, and nothing's even happened yet. See here for local commentary over on the Saints message board from folks who are getting ready to leave. Most are essentially giving the city its last rites.]
