Forget the "New Orleans missed the worst" of it nonsense

When some say "it could have been worse," what do they mean - full-fledged Atlantis? This is still nothing short of catastrophe. I go to sleep, wake up in the morning and it's gotten even worse. I must however give credit to the state for the unbelievable job they did in evacuating the city. Saved thousands of lives no doubt (maybe even tens of thousands).

The latest levee breach now has the French Quarter in at least 4 feet of water - and no one is predicting when the water will stop rising.

The Twin Spans (bridges) are severely damaged. Link is to a thread on the Saints forum with a good explanation of what that bridge is. Right now, the only way out is West.

I hear that The Times Pic did not have a print edition today, it's electronic only. I'm pretty sure the Wall Street Journal had a print edition on Sep 12, 2001 (I believe they were located in the World Financial Center adjacent to WTC.)

This pretty much sums up how I feel when watching coverage. I'm still heading back to the area for LSU-Florida and Saints-Falcons on the October 15th weekend. But it's not entirely certain the New Orleans area will have power by then, and I have no idea if the Saints will even be playing in N.O. Based on reports from ESPN News, it's looking more and more like Baton Rouge for them - and even Dallas(!) and Houston have been mentioned as possibilities.

[Edit: New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin's comments tell it all.]

Are you a LSU fan? How do you think the season will go with a new couch?
