HP discussion on the evolution of different offenses

Got the link from CF Resource.

Anyway, this is a fantastic read. The guy clearly has a great appreciation for CFB history and is adamant that through history it's been defenses which are forced to adapt to innovative offenses, and why he feels we're on the verge of a new revolution with offenses. Makes his point very well.

We'll see how it plays out. One thing that can be said is that it's tough to articulate any sort of counterargument here simply because I don't have his knowledge of CFB history, just the 17 years or so I've been watching since I was old enough to do so; and even at that I don't have a great memory of the late 80s and early 90s, when I just watched for fun and never analytically. As a result I rarely took a lot away from the experience of watching football other than entertainment.

Another thing that can be said is that as soon as the first signs emerge that his theory hasn't yet taken hold, it's oh-so-easy for the uneducated to step up and blindly accuse the guy of being an idiot. Clearly, he is not.
