How much Edge means

Had to come off the field on 1st and goal with a helmet issue. Carthon gets the carry, loses four yards. After a 3 yard pass on 2nd, it's now 3rd and goal from the six. The offense just doesn't work as well with James out.

I've said it 100 times--Edge is more important to that offense than Manning is. And if you look at Manning's career, not counting the first eight games of his career, he's been great when he had Edge (and Faulk in the end of '98) and not so great when he's had a less-than-superstar running back. That team goes nowhere without Edge.

That being said, he's absolutely lousy around the goal line.
