Scratching my head with the Colts offense

They're struggling to move the ball against the Browns.

They were fortunate on a slant route that Reggie Wayne caught and added 45 YAC, but they don't seem to have the confidence in moving the ball that they did last year. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that they can win the close games that aren't shootouts, but it is interesting to see this. The Browns have a good, defensive-minded coach, but they aren't exactly a defensive powerhouse (come on, pulling off a decent game vs Green Bay isn't all that much of an accomplishment any longer).

But the Browns are coached by Romeo Crennel, who teaches the same schemes as Bill Belichick. And as we see with Belichick, he seems capable of just plugging anyone into his defenses and having them work. Last year it was the two young corners. Yesterday, on the fly, they had to replace Rodney Harrison and they physically pounded Pittsburgh's offense anyway.

I tend to agree with an observation made by Brian Baldinger: teams around the league are copying the Patriots multiple defensive schemes and it's confusing offenses. The Colts have the hardest time of all with New England's schemes and so it shouldn't be surprising that they're struggling with other teams that are trying to follow the New England model.
